When Chris Isles and Edward Rollins decided to open Pintura Studio in February of 1996, they knew that their experience and taste in design would be the base from which Pintura Studio would become a reality.
Working together since 1989 creating decorative finishes for homes in New York, Caracas, Toronto and Palm Beach, that have included faux bois, faux marbre, glazes, stenciled walls and floors, Venetian plaster and gilding, they have worked with some of the world’s most celebrated designers.
When a top New York designer asked them to stencil onto fabric for a client, a completely new world of home furnishings opened up to them and Pintura Studio began producing beautiful hand stenciled pillows, table and bed linens, fabric and wallpaper.
To expand production, Pintura Studio began to transform their hand cut stencils into silk screens and to duplicate the hand stenciled look of their fabrics and wallcoverings into hand printed wallcovering and fabric. In the years since, Pintura Studio has been voted ‘Best of Design for Custom Hand Printed Fabrics’ by To-The-Trade Magazine, and has been included in Architectural Digest’s Great Design Issue, as well as having their work featured in many of the best interior and fashion publications in the United States.
Pintura Studio’s extensive design library includes original, as well as, updated classical designs from all over the world, each one individually adapted painstakingly into stencils cut by hand, insuring the tradition of handmade craftsmanship.
